It runs - for real!
Headed up to the shop after work with new Delco R45 plugs and a new condenser, and high hopes that the motor will finally fire. As usual, it wasn't quite as easy as it should have been – the new condenser had too short a lead wire, so had to be exchanged at the local parts store, the distributor was shorting out because the mounting bolt was reversed, and we needed to replace the old insulators where the points and condenser contacts meet – but once all that was taken care of, bingo, it ran and ran very well.
I took it for a spin around the yard…
Here's a closeup of the motor - no exhaust or water leaks, carb works well, operating temp normal, etc.
Next up will be work on the body. Ken dragged it out of the barn and put it in the workshop. The chassis took its place. Feels like we are making real progress!
