It Runs!

It is now a running chassis, or pretty much so. Ken worked on it last Sunday by replacing the plugs and fiddling with the carburator. Sure enough, it had been flooded.

The carburator is shot - any little acceleration and it floods out - but I have an original 414 Carter carb that will work after a good cleaning. After that, it's ready to go.

Found a couple old pictures of me and the coupe. Here's me on high school graduation day, June 1965, at my parent's house in Matawan, NJ:

Graduation

Here's me again (l) in August, 1967, with college friend Dave Tetreau at Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge in Edmunds, Maine. We were the woodcock banding unit for that part of the refuge in what was the best summer of my life. What you can't see is a lot of damage to the driver's side of the car. I had loaned the car to Dave one night in June to take his date back to town. On his return, he was struck by a hit and run driver. Took out the rear of the front fender, a piece of the running board, the rear fender, tail light and rear bumper, but fortunately no damage to the body itself. I found all the needed parts through HMN later that fall in a NH junkyard. Close call!
